Another Great BookFest in Sparta, NC

I would like to thank the folks at Alleghany Arts and Crafts for hosting me during the Sparta BookFest on Saturday, June 28th. Sparta is a quaint mountain town in the northwestern corner of North Carolina not far from the Blue Ridge Parkway.  Its Main Street is dotted with bookstores, craft shops and antique stores.  The twice-a-year event is organized by Imaging Specialists, Inc.  with the businesses up and down Main Street hosting regional authors, presenting and signing their books.

The dozens of people that came through the front door during the three hours I was signing books were greeted by Christina, Delta, and Elaine with smiles and a friendly "Welcome to Alleghany Arts & Crafts."  The three ladies are not only storekeepers, they're talented local artists with their works on display at the store.  In addition to having cookies and punch ready for the event when I arrived, they made me feel at home by introducing me to each of their customers.

I always meet the most interesting people during these book signings and Saturday was no exception. There was genuine interest in my latest book, IT GOES ON-A Short Story Collection. Several customers lingered to discuss their interests in books, a few sharing stories about their attempts to write their own novels.

The townspeople of Sparta and out-of-town visitors generously purchased a dozen books, with proceeds going to benefit Save a Pet Foundation of Alleghany. I'll look forward to the next Sparta BookFest.
